Finance
The Finance Scheme has now closed for applications.
About the area
There are some 250 people in our Finance team at ASDA House in Leeds. About two thirds of them are involved in financial control (Accounts Payable and Business Accounting) while the other third are in commercial roles. Accounts Payable and Business Accounting ensure that suppliers are paid on time and that financial reports are accurate, timely and clear. The Commercial teams (Business Development, Business Planning, Business Change, Retail Finance and Logistics Finance) work with specific parts of the business to drive ASDA's financial performance through analysis and long term financial planning.
About your development
You'll join us on one of two schemes. On the Accelerated Management Development Programme, your ultimate aim is to become a senior finance manager and earn your CIMA qualification. Over the course of the three-year programme you'll rotate jobs on an annual basis - starting off in Financial Control and then moving into a commercial role, where you'll apply the skills you've gained to a specific part of the business. The scheme includes tough six-monthly appraisals, and is for real high fliers. So you need to be intellectually very bright, but also able to take feedback.
The CIMA Trainee scheme also supports the CIMA qualification but runs at a slower pace than the Accelerated Development Scheme with a view to developing you over three years in two roles. Again, you'll start off learning the basics in Financial Control, after which you'll progress into a line manager or commercial role within three years.
CIMA is a leading membership body offering an internationally recognised professional qualification in management accountancy, focusing on accounting for business. We'll support you fully in gaining your membership by providing you with professional training and study leave.
About you
You can join us from any discipline with a 2.1 or better, but strong analytical ability is a must. If you're considering the Accelerated Development scheme, you should also be committed to staying in Leeds as the aim is for you to become a Senior Finance Manager (which would be based in ASDA House).
Why join in?
Joining ASDA and doing a CIMA qualification can help you advance more quickly at an earlier stage in your career - you'll gain first-hand experience in a commercial environment within your first three years, learning a variety of management techniques and developing a well-rounded, practical approach.
The Finance scheme is based at ASDA House in Leeds.
